On this page we will keep you informed and up-to-date on the progress of the construction work!

August 2026 -  This year, we were able to make further progress with the construction of our kitchen building. A large cooking fire pit was built for preparing food in large pots, as well as a cooking station with three burners. We also began constructing a traditional stone oven, using local fire-resistant stones. The work will continue in October during the next visit of board member Simona Cannetti and Carina Christler. A heartfelt thank you to everyone whose support and donations have helped us move this project forward step by step!

August 2026 -  Once again, we were able to support the school with a range of school supplies and a food donation for the summer celebration. We brought exercise books for mathematics and English, as well as learning books for students in grades 1 to 4. The children also received a new football for playing together during school break. Thanks to the generous support of one of our association members from Italy, we were also able to provide 60 new school uniforms and school backpacks for the children. Thank you to everyone whose donations help us actively support the children and their education!

September 2025 - Our summer project is complete! The roof of the school kitchen has been installed, and the final preparations have been made. To fulfill our vision of a school with its own electricity generation through a photovoltaic system and Wi-Fi, further steps still need to be taken in the future. We hope to be able to address this goal next year after an extensive fundraising campaign. For this year, we would once again like to thank all supporters, members, and friends for their joint efforts!

August 2025 - The construction for the school kitchen has been started. The walls have already been build and we expect the kitchen including its roof to be completed in mid september. A big thanks to everyone for supporting this years' project, it has been amazing so far. Stay tuned for the result!

Summer Project 2025 – Our project for this summer is to build a school kitchen with free Wi-Fi that is powered by energy from a solar panel. The kitchen will be equipped with a traditional wood-burning stove. Our vision is that in the future, the school will no longer be solely dependent on government or social support, but will be able to finance itself, at least in part! Construction will begin in August, and further updates will follow on this page!

August 2024 - The school does not only hold three toilets any longer, the construction work for the remaining three toilets has also been completed! Now all schoolchildren and teachers have access to clean sanitary facilities! Thanks to all members, supporters and friends of “Education is the Key” e.V. for their generous help!

July / August 2024 - The construction work for the remaining three toilets is ongoing. First the structure is completed with coral stones from the region, followed by the concrete walls and the roof. Only the doors and the interior are still missing. Soon all toilets will be in operation! Thank you for all your support!

March 2024 - Thanks to the donations of our generous club members, supporters and friends of "Education is the Key", the first three toilets for the children and teachers of Bahari ya Kati Primary School have been built! Additional construction work will soon begin on three more toilets.
